In 2017, ICE arrested 143,470 individuals nationwide. These arrests have continued to rise from 110,104 in 2016.
If you live in the state of Arkansas and one of your loved ones has been detained by ICE, try not to panic. In this article, we'll discuss 5 things you need to know about immigration bail bonds in Arkansas.
In the state of Arkansas, the cost of an immigration bond depends on the crime. An immigration judge will take the person's history into consideration to determine the cost of the bond.
Those individuals with a criminal history, flight risk, or possible threat to the community will have higher bails set. On the other hand, a person without a criminal record will have to pay a lot less for the bond.
Although the cost depends on the judge, the average cost of a bail bond is about $8,000.
2. Ways to Pay
If you want to post an immigration bond for a loved one, there are two ways to pay.
Cash Bond: If you have the money available, you can pay it in full to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Once the person attends the hearing in immigration court, the money will be refunded in full.
Surety: Going to an immigration bonds agent is the other way to pay for the bond. This is a great option when you don't have the money available.
After the court refunds the bail money, the bonds agent will take 15 to 20 percent.
3. Types of Bonds
There are two types of bonds available: delivery bond and voluntary departure bond.
Delivery Bond: An individual can obtain a delivery bond after the judge or ICE official makes a recommendation. The person must have an arrest warrant served in order to qualify for a bond.
Voluntary Departure: An individual can be released from custody with a voluntary departure bond if they agree to voluntarily leave the country. They must pay for their departure and leave by a certain date.
The bond won't be refunded if the individual doesn't leave by the agreed date.
4. Who Can Post The Bond
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires the person paying for the bond to be a Legal Permanent Resident or citizen.
If you don't meet the requirements, you will not be allowed to post bail.
5. The Grounds for Disqualification
As we mentioned before, not all individuals qualify for an immigration bond in the state of Arkansas.
Those detainees convicted of terrorist activities, drug trafficking, crimes of moral turpitude, and prostitution will not be eligible for a bond.
If the person got arrested while trying to enter the U.S., they will not qualify for an immigration bond.

Just wanted to thank you and your colleges for your good work on bailing out my wife. I found you guys on the internet and had reservations about this whole process, with it being much more complicated than a regular bail bond. Your company does know what they are doing and your insurance company is properly liscensed to perform Immigration bonds as referenced on the Dept. of Justice's list of certified surety companies. Everyone was quick to take my calls, answer my questions and respond to my emails. Just wanted to say thanks and hope that everything concludes happily for me and my family.
I'm sorry it has taken so long to write to you, but life has been very hectic since we last spoke. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all your help and support during the time I was going through the process of obtaining an Immigration Bond. This was all new to me and as you know, it was also very stressful for me. But you were very patient with me, and guided me through all the steps of the process to a successful conclusion. No matter how many times I called you, you always took the time to help me and I never felt rushed or pressured. I'm sure you give this wonderful service to all your clients and I hope they appreciate you as much as I do. I hope to never have the need for this type of service again, but I will never forget your kindness and empathy. Many, many "Thanks" and "Good Luck" to you in all you do.
