There are two primary types of bail bonds available to immigrants:

1. Voluntary Departure Bonds

This bond is a good option for those who have the means to use it. A voluntary departure bond gives a person to leave the country at their own expense if they can do so. The bond is paid directly to ICE.

Once the person is effectively out of the country, they can apply for a refund of the bond. That being said, the refund is not available for those who don't actually leave the country.

2. Delivery Bonds

Immigration and Customs Enforcement or your Judge will determine whether or not you're eligible for a delivery bond. When detained, a person needs to receive a notice of the custody conditions and an arrest warrant from ICE in order to be approved for a delivery bond.

A delivery bond is essentially one that gives a person the freedom to exit jail and spend time with their family, consult with lawyers, and make plans before they're faced with a court hearing.
